Lauriann Greene has been a leading writer, speaker and researcher on injury prevention and ergonomics for manual therapists for over 20 years. She graduated with honors from Seattle Massage School and also studied at Harvard and Brown Universities. After passing her state boards, the first edition of Save Your Hands! was published by Infinity Press, based on thorough research, Lauriann’s own experience with injury, and her workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada with hundreds of massage therapists.
Lauriann has written for Massage Therapy Journal, Massage Magazine, ISPA Pulse, Massage & Bodywork, American Spa, Spa Directors' Diaries and others, including a popular column in Massage Magazine, "Helping the Healers." She has spoken at the AMTA and World Massage Conferences and IECSC, among others. In 2006, Lauriann and ergonomist and LMT Richard W. Goggins worked with ABMP on a study that produced the first reliable statistics on injury among massage therapists and bodyworkers. Save Your Hands! The Complete Guide to Injury Prevention and Ergonomics for Manual Therapists, 2nd Edition, was published in 2008 with Rick Goggins contributing important content on ergonomics for manual therapists. The two also wrote a chapter on injury prevention for Fundamentals of Massage, a popular Australian textbook. At that time, Lauriann went on to receive formal ergonomics training.
The extensively revised, updated, and expanded Save Your Hands! Third Edition was published in Fall 2025. Save Your Hands! also offers a range of injury prevention and ergonomics consulting and educational services to therapists, manual therapy schools, clinics and spas. CEU courses will also be available.
